surgery
I am getting many questions about my surgery... so I thought I would just go public with it! Yes, I just had a surgery! It was VERY last minute! I was scheduled a month out and they had a cancellation, so of course I took it with the wedding being in 45 days and all!
I had Nissan Fundoplication. The surgery went GREAT! I did have an extra blood vessel between my liver and stomach (which Dr. Millie saw before cutting it!) which I guess in the long run makes it so the surgery will last longer, if not make it permanent. (i guess for most people the surgery lasts about 10-15 years and then they need to have it redone, but not in all cases) Not really sure how that works. ANWAY...
Recovery is going well. I am in step 2 of the diet. I graduated from ONLY CLEAR LIQUIDS and am now to the LIQUID diet (ie. cream of wheat, ice cream, creamed soups, yogurt, apple sauce, popsicles, certain kinds of juice, and that's about it). Drinking liquids like juice and water is quite painful because I swallow so much air but the "food" is no problem at all. For the time being I am "drinking" my liquids with a spoon because I swallow less air that way. (the air get trapped in my esophagus and has to make its way back out through the throat... yet, I can't burp. I now make VERY weird noises out of my mouth. :)
The pain in my shoulders is gone! YEAH PRAISE THE LORD! I guess all the air trapped in my shoulders from them blowing up my stomach has SOMEHOW worked its way out of me! 3 of the 5 incisions have their bandages off . The other 2 bandages will be off today.
ANYWAY, that was probably WAY too much information... but there you go! In short, all is going well, PRAISE THE LORD!
